The Speak Easy was founded in 2011 to cultivate the healthiest possible entrepreneurial ecosystem. Since opening our doors to the community in February 2012, we have brought together entrepreneurs at every stage of business. Our members are creatives, programmers, founders, freelancers, the business minded, the tech-savvy, first-time starters, and seasoned professionals. Our members are united by a drive to challenge the status quo through innovation, entrepreneurship

We’re building a community and removing barriers to entrepreneurship by creating a shared economy of supportive connections, affordable workspace, and know-how. Open seven days a week for coworking, we are also a unique, charming event venue that has hosted a variety of events including weddings, fundraisers, and more.

ROLE

The Community Manager plays a critical role for our unique community of members, event clients, and external partners. In this role, responsibilities will be focused on three key areas: community engagement, space management and day-to-day administrative support of our Executive Director. The Community Manager will report to the Executive Director. 

Community Engagement

  • Act as the main point of contact for active coworking members, answering questions as needed (in person, Slack, email, and voicemail). This may require some responsiveness on weekends.
  • Conduct tours of the space for prospective members and event clients in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Maintain a consistent onboarding process for all new members using provided tools and resources
  • Manage and monitor our Slack community 
  • Monitor and manage all inbound inquiries in person, on Slack, and via email and maintain CRM
  • Record in a consistent manner any witnessed or reported incidents to the Executive Director immediately

Facilities & Space Management

  • Ensure facility is running smoothly, communicating any disruptions to active members promptly
  • Manage inventory and functionality of necessary equipment and supplies, recording issues and reordering as necessary
  • Greet guests during business hours (9-5p ET, Monday-Friday)
  • Monitor and respond to requests for maintenance to ensure a prompt response
  • Manage special projects as needed (in collaboration with the Executive Director) for space upgrades, improvements, etc.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Effectively manage relationships with vendors and external partners as needed and requested by Executive Director
  • Effectively manage events calendar and calendar of the Executive Director with provided tools
  • Effectively manage systems used for daily operations of The SpeakEasy
  • Effectively manage all inbound communications from both internal and and external sources

Qualifications / Skills / Physical Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills & ability to multitask while maintaining positive attitude
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and technologies
  • High caliber verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in community management, office management or customer service role; Experience in co-working a plus.
  • Solutions-oriented with ability to navigate ambiguous situations and find equitable solutions
  • Ability to de-escalate conflict or report upward as needed 
  • Self-starter with effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload 
  • Passion and understanding for member & customer experience
  • Ability to build, foster, and maintain positive professional relationships

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, climb stairs, and walk around the facility
  • Frequently required to work on a computer
  • Occasionally required to use force to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds

COMPENSATION / BENEFITS

  • Salary Range: $36k – $42k 
  • Compensation to be commensurate with skills and experience
  • 15 days of annual PTO after 90-day probationary period
